What it is...
Optimization is the determination of controllable factors, within constraints, meeting cost and desirability goals that maximizes, minimizes or target a desired result.
For example, let's say you have quality specifications that you would like to target. You can use our predictive modeling technologies to estimate quality based on materials and process conditions. You can then "invert" that model with our iImprove tool to determine under current conditions what a materials add or process setpoint to change to target that quality on-spec, before the lab results come in. Nearly magic. High value to your organization. Essentially you can close-loop quality setpoints.
More than One Type of Optimization
Intellect 3.0 has multiple types of optimization on-board and can use them both internally to optimize its own processes as well as externally to optimize yours.
Model-Based Optimization
As described in the example above, regressive modeling technologies are used to get at the essential cause-and-effect relationships in your data, then "invert" those models using our proprietary algorithms to seek controllable variable values that maximize, minimize or target performance, however you define that, and (including "anti-performance: Faults, waste, undesirable by-products, etc. This optimization takes in account current conditions and places hard constraints on what the controllable values may be. It also can incorporate costs and "desirability"
Direct Optimization
Intellect can also adjust and observe your processes. It can undergo a direct search within hard constraints of live processes, measure actual performance and climb the performance curve continually improving your process.
Parameter Optimization
Any internal process (aka "Task") or web of Tasks in Intellect that have parameters can be optimized by Intellect if so configured. These Tasks may represent your operations in their structure and function.
